Dr. Lea McKinstry, Naturopathic Resident
Dr. Lea McKinstry is a first year Naturopathic Resident at Natural Medicine Plus. As a resident she is learning art and science of Naturopathic Medicine under the direct supervision of Dr. Jeff Roush. She is also learning from a variety of other medical providers in the Helena community to help make her a well rounded provider in the specialty of naturopathic primary care. \
Dr. McKinstry is passionate about health for the whole family. She holds a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University and specializes in women’s health, endocrinology (including hormone imbalances, thyroid conditions, infertility, and autoimmune disorders), and physical medicine.
Lea graduated from the Smith College in Northampton, MA with a Bachelor of Arts in Geology and spent several years in the field and then teaching and coaching before embarking on the journey to become a naturopathic doctor (ND) at Bastyr University in Seattle, WA. Her interest in naturopathic medicine was sparked through her own health challenges, as well as her passion for nature and preventative medicine.
Lea uses primarily non-surgical and non-drug options such as nutrition and botanical medicine. However, she can offer conventional options when appropriate and works in collaboration with other medical providers. She is a member of the Washington Association of Naturopathic Physicians (WANP) and the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP).
In her spare time, you can find Lea outside, hiking, biking, Nordic and alpine skiing, and simply enjoying nature.
